Rabbit Masters is a household name in the Rabbit industry in Ghana. The C.E.O of the Masters, is in the person of Mr Harrison Addy a.k.a The Rabbit People (TRP), as part of his contribution of encouraging the New comers to up their games, gave the following advise to the farmers. 1. Good record keeping. 2. Weekly stock taking. 3. Weekly reviews 4. Keeping good record of casualties. 5. Take picture of any dead rabbit before disposal.: Some years back my Rabbits dies only on Sundays when am busy in church. I used to complain that my Rabbits only dies on Sundays until my Bishop advise me to demand for pictures. 6. Find a faithful person. 7. Be nice to your employees: Whenever I am privileged to work from any of my farms my employees there are always happy because their lunch are secure. Just be nice to them . The yet to be married Rabbit Masters said if the above is followed religiously we would go to places. Do you have more advise? Mr Reader!

My Farm: My Experience - Wumtea

Image
Hello! My name is Wumtea AbdulRazak, also known as Naanuna or Golden, the founder of Our Rabbit Farm, located in Weija in the Greater Accra region of Ghana. I am an accountant by profession. I started rabbitry in 2018 with 3 does (female) and a buck (male). I had the inspiration to start animal farming from two special people in my life. Abdul Salaam Fuseini (C.E.O of Mbë Suglo Rabbit, East Legon), he made rabbitry 'sexy'. His branding was on point. My earlier fear was whether there is market for rabbit, because then I thought the meat was unpopular, but because Mbë Suglo is practising value Addition (VA), I was inspired and assured that demand outweigh supply. Mr Lewis Emmanuel Tenkorang (C.E.O of X farms, Weija) actually set me up. Mentored me from scratch to date.  Alhamdulilah! I started with 4 rabbits, since then I do not remembered buying even bunny but today I had more than 80 stock of rabbits. I have sold more than 80 meat rabbits and 20 to other Farmers for breeding....

The Need For Adding Value (VA)

Image
What is *VA aka Value Addition*? VA means transforming  a product to take a new look different from its raw state. In simple terms, you could look at VA as adding a special or unique feature to a product. By giving a product a name increases how valuable that product is.  For example one can find an unbranded smoked rabbit on the local market and a branded one such as Rabbit Masters. WHAT  ARE THE IMPORTANCE OF VA IN RABBIT FARMING? Though rabbits are beautiful in nature and seen by many as could be pets, just a handful will consider them as such because the African blood doesn't take delight in such nonsense. Therefore we will overlook value addition in the pet industry and concentrate on the food industry since it has the highest dailytial of reducing rabbit population daily in millions by means of slaughtering. One of the major importance of value addition, is to make a product stand out tall from  it's competitors in terms of possessing a carefully crafted ...
