 Greater Accra Rabbit Farmers Association (GARFA) is registered as Company limited by Guarantee at the Registrar General in 2019.

It is an association of rabbit commercial Farmers in the Greater Accra region and beyond.

OUR OBJECTIVES:

Our objectives include the following.

🐰To introduce and encourage Farmers to use improved breeding stock

🐰 Exposed members to the use of well formulated feed that will enhance the business of the rabbit farmers

 🐰Opening of marketing avenues for rabbit farmers especially for our members 


🐰Training and dissemination of information on current farming practices to meet international standards

🐰 To develop the rabbit value chain


OUR ACHIEVEMENT 

Our achievements within a year include:

1. Successfully registered as company limited by guarantee

2.Trained over 50 Rabbit farmers on Value Addition (V.A)

3. Minimised the common cry of there is no market. 


4. Allocated mentor to young farmers who wanted to be groomed

5. Successfully organized RHD workshop to enlighten Farmers

6 Colaborating with VSD for the importation of RHD vaccine into the country.



To conclude, though GARFA is one year old, it had outlined a lot of policies that might be the game changer in the industry. For more updates follow us on Facebook.

Farmer Brown Family Garden

 Farmer Brown is a household name in the rabbit industry not only Ghana but Africa as a whole. Most of us thought he farms only rabbit, Farmer Brown is a complete Farmer. Read the following work from Slow Food Foundation for Biodiversity. The farmer Brown family garden is about 600m2. and is maintained by Adotei Brown, popularly known as Farmer Brown, his wife, and their two children. The garden is cultivated with peppers intercropped with noni plants, cocoyams, and cassava. Rabbit manure is used to fertilize the soil. Peppers harvested from the garden are sold on the market and also for home consumption. Excess peppers are sundried for preservation. The cocoyam leaves locally known as kontomire are harvested and used in the preparation of vegetable stew. This stew is usually eaten with the boiled tubers of the cocoyam.
