My Farm: My Experience - Mohammed
My name is Mohamed Afful, a Fashion designer and the founder of BT Farms located in Ashale Botwe.
BT Farms was established in 18th February,2018to produce and add value to especially meat rabbit before marketing it for consumption.
I started rabbitry as a hobby and later realized I could turned it into an additional source of my income to consolidate my main source.
SUCCEED CHALKED SO FAR
All I can say is,am still in the process of implementing my idea and isha ALLAH, I believe I will get there in future.
CHALLENGES:
Some of the challenges I have experienced include:
1. High mortality rate of bunnies, but now have been able to reduce it,it was hard in the beginning because I had no idea about rabbitery.
2. The ability to formulate the right feed for my rabbits
3.The ability to get the right breeds for my farm.
4.Right medication chart and drugs purposely made for rabbit.
FUTURE PLAN
BT Farms medium term goal is to grow the farm from our current 20 doe unit to 60 in the next 3 month, It is part of my long term goal to modernized my farm with the latest state of the art rabbitry equipment and further extend my doe units to 1000. Yes 1000 doe units, I know with a well planned plan, the above and even more could be achieved easily.
To me, I like the kind of enthusiasm GARFA members especially the executives are exhibiting notwithstanding I want the breed committee to move faster and help us improve our breeds.
GARFA should lead the way for quality feeds at reasonable prices.i pray GARFA get the licence to import purebreeds on behalf of a member.
